Marissa Garcia - Chief Operating OfficerMarissa is a junior concentrating in Integrative Biology with a secondary in Earth & Planetary Sciences. She serves as both the Chief Operating Officer and a Project Leader for the collaboration with the New England Aquarium. She previously served as Event Coordinator and has been a member of the CI Suriname and Nature Conservancy projects. She considers conservation to be the pulse behind her research in marine bioacoustics, wherein she studies the vocalizations of the North Atlantic Right Whale, which currently has a population fewer than 411. She strives to use the soundscapes of the sea to better inform environmental and marine policy in support of conservation. She strongly believes the roles of scientist and communicator can no longer be separate and therefore also dedicates her time to being an editor for the Harvard Independent and Editor-in-Chief for Tuesday Magazine. In her spare time, you can catch her coffeehouse hopping.
